RETRIEVER TRAINING We have been training labrador retrievers professionally for over 20 years and have AKC Field Champions and Hunting Champions to our credit. At Chieftan Kennels, we can take care of all your retriever needs. We will individually train your dog to suit your personal shooting situation, and instruct you on how to handle the dog in the field. A basic shooting dog course takes 3 to 4 months and can begin as early as 6 months of age. More advanced hand signals and whistle response can be taught in additional months. Our Obedience Training course is 4 weeks and the dogs stay at the kennel during the training. We cover the basic obedience commands such as heel, sit, kennel, stay, down and here. We work the dogs both on and off leash and address any special problems you may be having. Of course we train you as well during our one on one, owner training sessions, working with you and your dog. Our obedience training is available to all breeds of dogs. We have occasionally "fully trained hunting dogs" available. We can demonstrate the dog's retrieving skills to you by shooting birds over them, in simulated hunting situations. We personally instruct you on how to handle the dog both at home and in the field. Your new hunting companion can be shipped by air to your closest major airport and be out in the blind hunting with you the following day. Our sires are selected for their field accomplishments, conformation, trainability, temperament and their ability to pass these traits on to their offspring. We will personally manage the breeding and care of your bitch at our kennel facility. We also offer pick-up and delivery service to surrounding airports. Stud service is fully guaranteed, and all stud dogs are certified free of hip dysplasia (O.F.A.) and hereditary eye defects (C.E.R.F.). At Chieftan Kennels, we combine some of the best lines of Field Champion sires and dams with the objective of producing a puppy that is willing to work, intelligent and an enjoyable family companion. Our breeding stock is x-rayed to ensure good hip conformation. We also guarantee our puppies to be free of hip dysplasia and hereditary eye disorders. We personally care for and socialize the puppies daily in our modern, sanitary whelping facility. All pups come with their dew claws removed, first vaccinations and fully wormed. |
